Andrea Stokes is a visual artist living and working in Hampshire. She uses diverse media and approaches to interrogate meanings imbedded within sites spaces and objects.
Born in 1961, she studied Sculpture at Liverpool Polytechnic and Experimental Media at the Slade School of Art.
In 2004 Andrea was invited to make a solo show at Portsmouth Cathedral and installed a large scale video projection entitled "Puncture". Also that year she was selected to be part of "Arttextiles 3", a survey of 18 British artists referencing textiles, at Bury St.Edmunds Art Gallery and subsequently touring the UK.
In 2006 she was awarded the Fleming Trust Residency at Hospitalfield House in Arbroath which resulted in the publication of "The Book of Elizabeth" published by The Hungry Dog Press.
In 2011, she was invited to take part in the touring show "Beyond Pattern", curated by Oriel Davies.
Andrea teaches Fine Art at Kingston University and is a member of the studio group Art Space Portsmouth.
